If youve missed PETAs high-profile parties with a purpose, heres your chance to experience one right in your own living roomwith PETAs new DVD and home video, "Paul McCartney & Friends: The PETA Concert for Party Animals."
Available in stores worldwide this month on the Image Entertainment label, this multimedia spectacle features a rare live performance by Paul McCartney, plus the B-52'sjoined by a go-go dancing Pamela Anderson. Also on stage are Chrissie Hynde, who dedicates "Ill Stand by You" to PETA and the animals, and Sarah McLachlan singing her hit "Angel" as a tribute to Linda McCartney, complete with never-before-seen home videos of the McCartneys compiled by Paul and the kids.
Alec Baldwin and Jamie Lee Curtis, hosts of the sensational show, introduce animal-themed stand-up by Ellen DeGeneres and Margaret Cho, as well as PETAs psychedelic salute to Laugh-In featuring Bea Arthur, Andy Dick, Fred Willard, Martin Mull, Mo Gaffney, The "Lady" Bunny, and Elvira. Gillian Anderson, Bob Costas, Ricki Lake, Christina Applegate, and Kristen Johnston host a Humanitarian Awards segment spotlighting the work of PETA and its celebrity supporters, including Todd Oldham, Stella McCartney, Bill Maher, Steven Seagal, Richard Pryor, Linda Blair, and Kathy Najimy.
The DVD also includes special features such as a retrospective reel of PETA PSAsincluding the Golden Girls cast members targeting fur, k.d. langs infamous "Meat Stinks" spot, River Phoenix urging kids to speak up for animals, and, produced years later, his younger brother Joaquins ad for turkey-free holiday meals. Another menu option allows viewers to see PETAs celebrity-hosted undercover animal cruelty cases, such as Charlize Therons exposé of puppy mills, Babe star James Cromwells take on the pork trade, Stella McCartneys tour of a fur farm, and Pamela Andersons true skin flicka look at how leather is produced.
